Asterion was an engineer who lived at the latter part of the Jauparturnid era.

History[]

Asterion lived with his two brothers, Auges and Gyges, and were trained as engineers who built defensive megastructures for the Cyan Senate's fleets. While his brothers eclipsed him in fame, Asterion was mocked and abused for his humility, to the extent that one of the generals disfigured him by pouring acid at his face.

Angered by his mistreatment, he created several rings that drove its users insane with hallucinations and fled in an escape pod. He landed in the western part of the Vozonid Empire, where its emperor Rhôndovon III learned from him various ways to defeat the Cyan Senate's advanced machinery. He was given a library at the southwest that was converted from a tomb, where he became an immortal from drinking from a special fountain gifted by the emperor.

During Zemasor's reign and the Ontemazei War, he harboured thousands of refugees, who built a Burrow-City hidden in the earth under his library. He also took in the immortal Enedris, who assisted him in his work.

Trivia[]

  • Asterion was inspired by the Greek myth of the Minotaur and the Ring of Gyges.
