Ragnvald

"Go to hell. Go play in traffic, fly a kite in a sea of sharks, chase a jotunn, dance on an axe, eat some glass tarts, and drink away off the world's orbit. Just get lost, won't you?"

"I've seen scoundrels that are worse than you, don't worry."

Ragnvald Bergson is a disgruntled film actor from Hothro.

Appearance[]

Ragnvald is an adult man of Hothrovian (Nordic) ancestry with peach skin, shaggy black hair, and dark blue eyes.

He tends to wear a suit and trousers; or a plaited shirt with trousers like typical Hothrovian farmers do.

History[]

Ragnvald's childhood home was the trading post town of Benzinkur, Mylangard Province. It has many diners and drunks fighting in the streets.

Ragnvald's father Hallveig and grandfather Magnus were film actors, while Ragnvald himself became a local dune sailing champion. Before his family moved to the capital city, he took part in one last race that ended with a Wannaenid raid, and he was rescued by the police. Ever since, he went around researching about the Wannaenids in his attempts to stop further raids, or fight back in case if they attack again - especially after hearing reports of other raids in the rest of Hothro and neighbouring Kalambour.

His first appearance as a film actor was for a TV series known as "Murder Number Sixty-Six", where he acted as a henchman who fought a rival gang. His character was the only member of his party who survived, mostly because he just beat up his rivals. Even pilots of the rival gang's mechas were simply shot or thrown out of their vehicles and then beaten up with his fists - but although this was part of the script, audiences liked how Ragnvald improvised his acting and praised him as "the guy who actually did his job right".

After proving himself to be a skilled actor, he became a world-renowned celebrity, culminating in his role as Duke Rhossondri in the historical comedy-drama The Fox of Verucci. However, he was pressured by his director Raillon Ferandez to the extent that he was frustrated by his job.

Later on, he was quite amused by his drunken, frustrated self, that in his spare time he made a web series where he acted as an irresponsible drunkard on camera. Due to his wit (constrasting his gentlemanly self with his sloven persona), he earned a fanbase that actually appreciated and cared for him, unlike most of his movie fans. Those fans, the "Chosen Failures", were more reasonable and level-headed than the mobs of his most hardcore supporters, that he spent more time with them than with his devotees. By contrast, the loud majority that became infamous, the "Favoured Foxes", were rejected for being obnoxious.

He also wrote a motivational book, "Nobody Cares" (Hothrovian: Öllni samm), where its demeaning, sarcastic texts instead motivated people to behave better.

Personality[]

"I wonder how many balls and alarm clocks do I need to throw out of the window, before anyone would stop being idiots? My town really needs a spring cleaning, starting with throwing as many losers off the windows." - Episode 269, My Black Blog of Mistakeism.

Ragnvald may be calm, collected, and frank, and even snarky, but he is also irritable and grumpy.

Whenever he is upset, he drowns his sorrows in alcohol and throws beer cans, before falling asleep. Ragnvald is sometimes notorious for cussing a lot.

His hobbies include reading, coffee, vodka, strolling, combat exercises, and photography. He dislikes his annoying fanbase, the papparazzi, mutants (for bragging about their abilities all the time) and his director.

He does not consider himself a leader, except during his conscription days when he used to lead a squad, and when acting as a knight or some other leading character.

Relationships[]

His best friend is Rembartin, since his childhood. He likes Rembartin's stories about ancient history, and Rembartin likes his knowledge of film trivia and his stunts.

His most disliked person is obviously his current film director from hell Pelarin, Raillon Ferandez. Behind his back and the backs of those he dislikes, he makes fun of them.

He has two fanbases: the Chosen Failures and the Favoured Foxes. The Chosen Failures are the fans who are reasonable and sensible enough to get his attention and friendship, while the Favoured Foxes are too obnoxious that he would avoid them like the plague. One of his most excessive fans is from almost a hemisphere away: Dagnia, the Crown Princess of Daleskarnia.

Trivia[]

  • Ragnvald was inspired by Kylo Ren.
  • Other influences for his character include the Sniper from Team Fortress 2, Australian characters, English football hooligans, RackaRackaAli, and Adam Driver. The author imagined about him, as he wanted to make fun of The Force Awakens and Frozen being annoying trends in 2015.
    • Likewise, his director's name was based on the shipping name "Reylo" and the Portuguese name "Fernandes".
    • The author imagines that he speaks in an Australian accent if he were to speak in English.
    • His first acting appearance, "Murder Number Sixty-Six", was inspired by a Star Wars satire video by the British artist Podel.
  • Like most Hothovians, he prays to Vidarr as his patron deity.
  • His primary weapons are a bladed disk of wraithstone and a pistol.

"Kylo Ragnvald" (lol)[]

Nashestvie

Ragnvald's dream life.

The author thought it could be fun to see how would Ragnvald fare if he were under Kylo's shoes. Poor Ragnvald will never stand a chance against that mighty Force user, because he's just a pathetic human with no magic at all.

  • blue butterflies as "Bendemption" - One notorious incident was about Ragnvald getting so angry that he got drunk at the park. Annoyed by some blue butterflies, Ragnvald grabbed a paint can (mistaking it for aerosol or aerosol deodorant) and used it to kill the butterflies, before drinking and yelling curse words again.
    • To ward off annoying fans, he sometimes shows off videos of his collection of dead butterflies. His smirks died down when he noticed that another group of annoyances, some scientists, asked him to donate his dead butterflies to them for research.
  • Sith - Ragnvald looks down on magic and mutant powers, seeing people with these as "annoying, arrogant snobs and gits". That is one more reason why Princess Dagnia loves him, and finds him to be relatable.
  • The Fandom Menace - Ever since he was aware that people made fun of him for yelling and throwing beer cans whenever he was drunk (instead of smashing a whole room), he made a v-log featuring a drunken persona to laugh at himself. That earned him his own fanbase of actual people who truly respected him, winning his support.
    • He might only destroy a room mostly to act as a character, or simply to film videos of his own characters making a fool of themselves in satirical parodies.
    • The fans that he actually liked are known as the Chosen Failures, because they were not as obnoxious as his other fandom, the Favoured Foxes.
    • The "Chosen Failures"' name may also be a parody of "the Chosen One", a Jedi prophecy.
  • One of the props in his room was a skeleton sitting on a cheap, worn-out sofa. He explained in a video that obsession can kill many lives.
    • He meant "obsession is the killer of lives", not him being "obsessed with killing".
  • Saltier than Crait - His favourite Stratos (not-Youtube) channel is "Saltier Than Failos", a fictional location in the 2192 movie "Island" (Hothrovian: Øy, Ѫѵ). It is the small island under Dmandosian rule where the tormented main character loses his sanity and spends his final days yelling and starving to death under its only palm tree. The channel's contents mock extremely obsessive behaviour from fans from all over Jerde.
  • Galaxy's Edge, Disneyland - He is a lifelong VIP in the amusement park known as Galactic Rim, where he got to enter freely without any payment, because the management and its fans liked him very much. He also liked the fact that many of them refused to be annoying, and some of them provided advice and some support. They look up to him as their hero, someone who inspired them to live a better life.
  • Ragnvald doesn't like being swamped with glorious fanart that exaggerated his best traits.
    • That is why he acts as various fictional characters based on himself who are worse than what he actually is, such as drunks, brawlers, hooligans, and failures. Because of his performance and wit, that made him more popular by younger boys and men (and tomboys) instead of his initial female fans.
    • There were also some women and girls who also liked his performances because he seemed more like a real, relatable person to look up to as a role model and a friend.
  • Reylo - Ragnvald hates being shipped with anyone. If he wanted a girlfriend, he felt that now was not the right time to settle down.
    • But sometimes he mocks some of his worst fans by making parodies of popular shippings, using various stand-in characters who are more incompetent than himself for his own amusement.
